Welcome to the official 1st Portlethen Scouts web site.

We are located about 7 miles south of Aberdeen in Scotland, UK in the Kincardine & Deeside Scout Area. We have a recently established Scouts group and Beaver colony to go along with the long established Cub section giving the youngsters of Portlethen the opportunity to enjoy the great benefits that Scouting can give.

The Beavers and Cubs meet in the Bourtree Hall and the Scouts meet at Portlethen Academy. See the relevant pages for more details.
To help those who have the sometimes onerous task of sewing on the hard-earned badges and are wondering "Where do these go on the uniform?", please see the link on the section page. You can go there by clicking on the relevant Beavers, Cubs or Scouts image above.

1st Portlethen Scout Group attended the Kincardine & Deeside Centenary Camp at Braemar in May 2007. Some photos can be seen here.

2007 marked the 100th Anniversary of the Scouting movement. Worldwide at 8am on 1st August anyone involved in any of the Scout groups (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) were asked to take their promise wherever they were. For some of the photos, click here.

As with any organisation, fund-raising is a very important part of the ongoing activities. In the past, the primary fund-raising opportunity for the 1st Portelthen Scout Group has been the Portlethen Gala but this year we tried something new; a sponsored walk. Each section did their bit:
-> the Beavers did a 2k walk round Templars Park.
-> the Cubs did a 6k walk from Templars Park along the Deeside Railway line.
-> the Scouts also walked along the Deeside Railway line, starting from the Duthie Park and ending at Templars. A total of 12k.
After all the walking had been completed, we had a Family Fun Day at Templars which was went down very well. At this time all the money has not been collected but it has certainly been a very successful event. Thanks to all those who took part and helped out.

Our thanks also go to those companies who helped by making various donations; The Ashvale Restuarant, Makro, Cogent and ASDA.

The groups are open to boys and girls aged from 6 - 15 years of age, and we get up to all sorts of activities. The photos here were taken at the Christmas show we put on for the residents at Glebe Court in Portlethen. Everyone who was there had a great time and our thanks go to all at Glebe Court for making it a special occasion for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who came along to provide the entertainment.
