Cubs ... the best part of the week (at least according to some of the pack in Portlethen!). The Cubs meet on Thursday evenings at the Bourtree Hall from 6:30pm to 8:15pm. There are camps to go to where all sorts of activities are going on; archery, crate building, campfires ... and night games! WOW!

To the Cubs, one of the most important (if not THE most important) aspect of being in the Pack is earning the badges. For information on what is required for each badge, click on the Adobe icon below to download the information pack.

Sewing on badges? Not sure where they go? Hopefully this badge link will give all the answers.

Alex Keenleyside and Glen Hopley both show off their Silver Chief Scout Badges, which were presented by Assistant Regional Commissioner (North East Scotland) Ian Dow. This is the highest award any Cub Scout can achieve and can only be gained after the completion of 3 Challenge Awards and their own personnel challenge.
For his personnel challenge, Alex (right) had kept a full and interesting journal of all activities over the school summer holidays, including a weeks' trip to the outdoors centre in Dalguise, Perthshire.
Glen has been part of a dedicated team of restoration enthusiasts that are currently bringing a steam locomotive back to it's full glory.

During November the Cubs were visited by the Aberdeen Cyrenians for a talk on the homeless people living in the city. It was decided to have a fund raiser for the charity with the Cubs spending a night in Bourtree Hall, sleeping in a box. The response was very good with a cheque for £157 being given to the Cyrenians which can be seen in the press cutting from the Mearns Leader.
